tech 300x200 Spa RepairPoor water chemistry is the biggest issue, with almost 100% of other issues traced back to bad water chemistry. If the water chemistry were properly balanced, spa repair could likely be avoided.

A fast talking spa salesman will hype a spa or hot tub that is ‘maintenance-free,’ which is unfortunately not even remotely true. The most you can hope for is a low-maintenance hot tub. Surprisingly, maintaining the water chemistry is a far lower cost than the other types of spa repairs you’d have to do as a result of not taking care of the water chemistry.

Heater failure is usually a result of low ph in the water. A low pH reading will almost certainly result in calling a spa repair company to replace the heating element, the heater or even both. If the pH level falls below 7.0, it can corrode the heating element. When the heating element corrodes, it will cause the heater to shut down, and you will have to replace it or the heating element.

Bad water chemistry also causes circulation pump failure. Many modern spas and hot tubs have a 24/7 circulation pump. Water chemistry problems along with pump seal failure are the two main causes of circulation pump failure. If your circulation pump fails, you will obviously need to get the spa repaired.

A flow switch is a mechanical component that has a very limited product life. A flow switch is a simple repair and one that most spa owner commonly experience.

A burned out circuit board is one of the most expensive repairs around. A burned circuit board is typically caused by loose heater terminal connection screws but can also be caused by excessive heat, water damage or a short circuit.
